Born on a farm in West Moreland County Pennsylvania, Adelle grew up in the middle of six siblings. Her parents George and Elda Riffle raised their family to love God, family, and country and nurtured Adelle’s love of gardening and the outdoors. She married Robert Olson of McKeesport, PA in 1943. During WWII she worked with the FBI in Washington, DC, then pursued various jobs before retiring from a job in inspection. Never one to sit idle, she was a food demonstration server in grocery stores well into her eighties.
Adelle’s dedication to Trinity Community Church was well known by the congregation. Whenever there were cakes to be made, volunteering to be done, or any other service to God, she was there with a smile. She provided transportation to church, appointments, and errands for those who needed it, delivered Meals on Wheels through her 80’s, and was a genuinely giving member of her community. Adelle was a reliable friend, a true Christian, and an inspiring woman, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Adelle is survived by one sister Nadine, children Sondra Carver of North Carolina, Gerald (and Gudrun) Olson of Illinois, 3 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by husband Bob, son Dale, son-in-law Doug, and great-grandson Carver. She was known affectionately by her great-grandchildren as “Great.”
Services and Interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park will be held privately.
