Mrs. Liang, Wen-Chih (梁文枝), maiden name Tseng (曾), was born in a small village in southern Taiwan’s Xiaying District (下營區). She was an elementary school teacher. In 1972, she emigrated from her tiny village in Taiwan to New York City — one of the biggest cities in the world — with her entrepreneurial husband, 梁敏雄. She helped manage a successful chain of laundromats in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, working tirelessly. She was known as 老板娘 (boss’ wife). She retired at age 65, then traveled around the world and went on cruises with friends from the Taiwan Senior Center in Flushing.
While here in New York City, she was fortunate to receive Tao. She has been cultivating Tao, engaged in mindfulness by letting go of all distractions from the five senses. She vowed to be vegetarian, to be one with the universe, and to achieve Nirvana by transcending from Reincarnation and bad Karma.
She is strong-willed, determined, generous, and — as summed up nicely by her hospice nurse — a very beautiful lady. She has lived her life fully and returned home to the warm embrace of Mother Buddha. She is survived by her three children — Judy, Richard, and Vivian — and seven grandchildren.
