Sandy was my lawyer during my divorce while I was temporarily housed in a women’s shelter. The respect and compassion Sandy showed me - and by default, my children - while I was at my lowest, speaks to her humanity. She was always calm, generous with her time, and masterfully strategic in securing a settlement that moved me from a shelter to my current three-bedroom apartment. My children and I are all beyond fortunate  to have had her as my lawyer, and post divorce, as a friend. I miss Sandy. I miss her laugh, I miss her fussing about her French manicures :) and I miss her don’t-sweat-the-small-stuff approach to life. The world is a better place because Sandra Katz was here❤️

I never met and did not know Sandra but I know some people who were positively impacted by her she represented them at difficult times in their lives. I was wondering if someone in the family can tell me if Kaddish was properly said for her and if not perhaps I can arrange it . I would like to do something in return for her service to the community I also would need to get her full Hebrew name and her father's Hebrew name in order to do the kaddish. Sandra Katz was my Court appointed attorney, singularly instrumental in getting me out of a Women’s Homeless Shelter in New York City in 2014. She advocated on my children’s and my behalf from 2013 through 2014. I shudder to think how my legal life would have unfolded had Sandra Katz NOT been in my life. Even AFTER she ended her legal practice, and I visited with her in Riverdale, she continued to ask about my children and guide my continued legal navigating. From her bed, in the midst of feeling exhausted, she insisted on speaking with and gave advice my daughter Grace, regarding her May 2019 high-school graduation by giving pointers on Colleges and Graduate School. I just began Graduate School - how I wish Sandy was here for me to share this with her. The role of education in women’s life was very important to Sandy.   I also remember how much she LOVED  Tal Bagels! :) Her always impeccable French manicures :) Her Yiddish references are forever etched in my brain :) Her love and adoration for for her mother, Al, her children and grandchildren gave her joy, purpose and peace. Her honesty, fairness, insight and view on life, love, and family, encapsulates the Sandra Katz I knew…the Sandy I came to love and respect. My life and my children’s lives are better because of her.  I truly miss her❤️
