Rex Davidson Joseph, age 80, of Queens, New York passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. His kindness, intelligence, sharp sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to his family will be sorely missed.
He was born in 1943 on the island of Grenada in the West Indies. When he turned 13 he came to New York with his siblings Alenthea, Anira, and Malcom where they joined their little brother Ronald. In early 70’s Rex started his career as a freelance photographer. One of the few photographers of color, working for publications such as Essence magazine, photographing models, celebrities, musicians, and politicians, capturing them all in his beloved camera lens. In the 90’s Rex became an adjunct professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology sharing his decades of knowledge with the next generation. He leaves behind his beloved wife Thea and son David.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on June 8th at 3pm at Forest Park Funeral Home 114-03 Queens Blvd Forest Hills, NY 11375.
