I extend my deepest sympathy to Miriam's son, David.
Miriam was a very special friend. We spent lots of time together when I lived in NY and kept in touch when  I moved to Texas.  I met Miriam walking on the Third Avenue in NYC.  I believe it was 1974.  I invited her to a Buddhist meeting and she sincerely practiced Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism from that day...always seeking answers to questions and always keeping in touch.   There were many challenging times: the loss of her brother, Izzy, her husband, Steve and mother. We both went on Tozan in 2009, she from NY (with David) and I from Texas.  We spent lot of time together there and later spoke regularly on the phone. I last saw her at the Temple in Flushing,  N.Y. in 2014.
We chanted and then went out for breakfast. She drove me to the bus stop.  
I deeply appreciate Miriam and her desire to seek the truth.
She was close and deeply loved her son, David.  What a wonderful friend who I remember each day during Gongyo.  love,
