Joan Ackerman née Ashley, was born March 21, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY, to William and Ida Ashley, died comfortably on October 27, 2023. She is survived by her daughter, Jill Ackerman (Marc Aserlind), grandson Max Aserlind, and niece Julie Krasnoff (Susan Harricharran). She is predeceased by her sister Phyllis Krasnoff and nephew Bruce Krasnoff.
Joan‘s career spanned 40 years running the back office, and then vice president of compliance, for an investment company, which turned out to be a perfect fit with her love of gambling and stock trading. She was a passionate cook, loved to host family meals, and was the designated annual thanksgiving hostess, always trying something new each year, while also serving up the greatest hits. Her fruit salad with chocolate chips may be her greatest legacy. She had a creative spirit that included painting and crocheting, a love for singing, and could be found most Friday nights at piano bars.
