Florence Farber Einhorn of Boston, MA passed away suddenly on August 19 while on vacation in Santa Fe, NM. Florence was a loving and beloved spouse, mother, grandmother, daughter, sibling, aunt, and friend whose energy and devotion to family and friends will be missed by all.
Born in 1944 in Elizabeth, NJ to Leonard and Anne (Horne) Farber, Florence graduated from Linden High School before becoming a proud alumna of Smith College. After graduation, she moved to Washington, DC to become an economist, first with the Bureau of Labor Statistics then with the Census Bureau and two presidential commissions. During this time, Florence earned an MA in demography from Georgetown University and later an MBA from the University of Maryland before becoming a CPA. Soon after arriving in Washington, she was introduced on a blind date to Henry Adler Einhorn. They were to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on August 25. They raised their three children in Silver Spring, MD and were active members of the Tifereth Israel and Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School communities, as well as the Boston Synagogue after moving to Boston in 1994. As an adult, she proudly celebrated her bat mitzvah, part of a lifelong commitment to Jewish learning and growth. Florence was a cherished colleague throughout a 40-plus year career. Her final role was as director of accounting at the Unitarian Universalist Association. Retirement afforded her more time to focus on interests such as the arts, theater, Jeopardy, and the Boston Red Sox, as well as travel, and, most importantly to her, spending time with family, including her nine grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Adler Einhorn, her father Leonard Farber of Scotch Plains, NJ; her children Ted Einhorn (Amy Einhorn) of Cleveland, OH, Jacob Einhorn (Shari Kleiner) of Washington, DC, and Marshall Einhorn (Deborah Skolnick Einhorn) of Brookline, MA; her siblings Henry Farber of Princeton, NJ, Fred Farber of Falmouth, ME, and Melissa Rosenbaum of Parsippany, NJ; her grandchildren Emily, Orly, Kobi, Ezra, Maya, Josh, Elana, Ari, and Shira; and her numerous nieces and nephews.
