Evelyn Wishnia

Evelyn Wishnia, age 102, a resident of Rego Park in Queens, NY for over 50 years, passed away on October 16, 2023. She was born September 19, 1921 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn where she and her brother, the late Joseph Slovak were raised by their parents Louis and Helen. In 1942, she fell in love and married Benjamin Wishnia, a Russian immigrant. They and Ben's two sons Stanley and Oscar (since deceased) settled in Brooklyn. They then had two daughters, Arleen and Marilyn (Lynnie - since deceased). Evelyn had a number of different professional jobs including as a Diamond Buyer for Zales Jewelers. She had a passion for people and walking everywhere around NYC. She was fiercely independent, strong, and caring. Evelyn touched so many hearts and will be deeply missed by her friends and large family of nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Thursday 10:30 at the Mount Hebron Cemetery, Flushing, NY
