A professional singer with an enchanting voice, Elizabeth met her late husband, a professional trumpet player, Leonard, in Memphis, Tenn. She was visiting her father at the Peabody Hotel, where Leonard was performing with the Art Mooney Orchestra. After a whirlwind romance, they wed in Yonkers, N.Y., in November 1953. After singing and playing together with multiple bands across the country, the two eventually settled in Forest Hills, N.Y., where they raised their family.
They shared 63 wonderful years together.
Elizabeth was an avid reader--a lover of biographies and books about history and spirituality. She was also an incredible cook whose delicious meals fed her loved ones' bellies and hearts. Already known for being an extremely selfless and caring mother to her own children, later in life she and Leonard would go on to help raise two of their grandchildren, Kayla and Ryan, as if they were their own.
She is predeceased by her above-mentioned husband, Leonard, her mother, Delvina, her father, Lawrence, her stepfather, Charles, and her sister, Larietta.
A small service will be held where she will eternally rest alongside Leonard, at Calverton National Cemetery in Long Island,N.Y. on Jan.9, at 1 pm.
