Mary Elizabeth DeSanti was 97 when she passed away peacefully in her home in Queens. She was born February 12, 1926, in Manhattan, NY. She was the daughter of Aurora Pagan and Joseph Pagan and had two older siblings Joseph and Dora.
She was a native New Yorker and loved the opera, museums and the theater. Mary, in her early days worked as a secretary in the Woolworth Building before WWII. It wasn’t until after the war, she fell in love with her best friend Marie’s brother, Daniel (Danny), after seeing him in his Navy uniform. They fell in love and lived an abundantly full life in Queens where they surrounded themselves with their family and friends. Mary was always full of life. She had many interests: cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, reading, dancing, (and well into her 90s) working out, spinning and yoga.
Mary was the loving and devoted wife to Danny for 72 years, beloved mother of four children Denise, Susan, Michael and Yvonne, mother-in-law to Denise and doting grandmother to Daniel, Kaitlin (deceased) Dan, Samantha and Alyssa. She has been an incredible inspiration to many, has made a permanent impact on our lives and her spirit will always live on in our hearts.
