We are so happy to have known John these last 10 years.  He was a man with a huge heart that loved  his wife, kids  and  grandkids.  We will always remember John with his wonderful smile and a quick joke. Seeing john with his family over the years is some memories we will never forget.  I can never have a sam adams  beer without thinking of the great john !  John will never be forgotten. There are no goodbyes , where ever john family will be is where john will be in the hearts of the people that loved him. John has been called home to the lord and the bond for all that loved him will never be broken. The deep grief that is being felt is because he was loved so much. 

30 years. That's how long my father-in-law has been a part of my life. More than half of it! My husband Joe and I went on our first date on February 29, 1992, and it was during that year that my journey with the Ulicny family began.  A span of time filled with wonderful memories. Weekends spent at their house when we were dating, day trips to fun-filled places, family dinners filled with laughter, and quiet times spent in one another's company. My father-in-law, Joe, and myself all shared the commonality of working in the art field and would always discuss the latest trends and what we were working on at the moment. He always had a witty sense of humor and made me feel right at home. It was common knowledge that if he joked around with you and gave you a hard time, you knew he really liked you. I think I did OK in that department. Our long-standing joke was whether or not I brought my toolbox with me whenever I was at the house. This, of course, was my makeup case and to this day I am never without it! It's hard to believe that he is no longer with us but I take solace in knowing that we will all be together someday raising a glass again in one another's company.  Until then keep watch over all of us, and know that you are forever in our hearts.

Tom and I will miss our Doo Wop buddy of many years.  We saw concerts together in NY, NJ and Delaware.  Groups included The Cameos, The Bronx Wanderers and many others.   We met in Resurrection Church and watched our kids grow up together.  We have shared both happiness and sadness with each other.  John, until we meet again in Heaven, we will miss you and your wonderful sense of humor.  May our Lord welcome you with open arms.

John and I were very much alike -a good sense of humor, involvement in the design world, and a love of photography. He certainly had a creative eye.
I'm glad my cousin Doris married him-I enjoyed being with him. He leaves his beautiful family and a portfolio of wonderful photographs as his legacy.
Heaven has received a good, decent man and a talented photographer. Rest in peace, free of pain and suffering.

What an absolute JOY it was to look through these photos of Uncle John's life and work!!! I absolutely loved being able to scroll through them all... so thank you. 

I'm pretty sure every favorite memory I have around Uncle John somehow relates to our shared love of photography. (And of course poking fun at my Dad/Wayne whenever the opportunity arose.) While I have many memories that involve some sort of family gathering... the one that will stay with me forever is from my wedding. I was overwhelmed and anxious. I turn around, and there he was (camera in hand, natch) with the biggest grin and an even bigger hug waiting for me. I forget exactly what he said, but it immediately made me belly laugh and forget whatever it was that was bothering me.  (And moments later, one of my favorite photos of the day was captured by Uncle John... It was absolutely perfect.)

The world has lost an amazing human and artist, but memories of him stay strong. Thinking of all of you as you navigate the world without him...

Believe it or not I met John over 58 years ago.  We both worked at a small ad agency.  He was in the art department and myself in photography.  We opened a photography studio together in 1972.  Shooting weddings together was always a blast.   He always had the wedding party in stitches with his humor.  We kept in touch over the years, but got together again after the passing of my wife Marion in 2011.  Started going  down to Delaware every couple of months for relaxation and nature photography.  We made a six week trip across country in 2015, a year after he had major surgery.  It was a great experience.  We prayed together many times.  I love you and I'm going to miss you John.  I know you're watching over all of us. 

Memories flow like the bay waters.. John for 14 years we lived side by side and watched you go for your Corvette rides.. taking Bob one time when we didn’t think he’d fit in let alone get out!.  Watching  you and Louie leave early morning with cameras in tow to capture the nature waiting to be immortalized through your lens..watching you load your Kayaks to skim the calm waters.. seeing you with the grandchildren.. and Skipper.. boys happy hour...you fought a very difficult demon and so many times kicked him aside and rose up to amaze us … it was time to go home to your loving God.. leaving all of us sad but we rejoice for knowing you and knowing the peace you have now.. only happy days for you now.. God Bless and smooth sailing till we all meet again.

There are so many happy memories with  Doris and you.  I’m glad our paths crossed when our daughters were in kindergarten. I remember how you always looked forward to PS107  “Music in the Air” with those “comfortable” seats!!  We enjoyed several vacations -the most memorable was “Daniels” We also went to Boston, whale watching and a stop at the “Red Door”, Block Island and Newport to name a few.  We had many family BBQ’S and of course the  “Welcome to NY” party for Ray and Jean. I loved how you nicknamed me “Aunt Sylvia” We had some good laughs about that! You will be greatly missed but you are now free from all the suffering. 

We first met John and Doris in The Bahamas where we were both celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary.  Right from that moment we knew we would become friends and our friendship continued all these many years. We shared so many fun times. John’s unique sense of humor always came through and laughs were guaranteed even on a bad day!  He will certainly be missed but we were blessed to have him and Doris as friends.

Our first date was at a drive in to see " Night of the Iguana".  After our first kiss that night I knew you were the one I would love forever.  I thought I loved you so much on our wedding day, but after so many years I realized that was the tip of the iceberg.  Our Lord got you back home for us to be together for our 56th wedding anniversary on April 30th. Our wedding song says it all:  More than the greatest love the world has known, this is the love I give to you alone.  More than the simple words I try to say, I only live to love you more each day.  More than you'll ever know my arms long to hold you so.  My life will be in your keeping, waking, sleeping, laughing, weeping.  Longer than always is a long, long time, but far beyond forever you'll be mine.  I know I never lived before and my heart is very sure, no one else could love you more. You always said I love you ----so much.  I know how much you loved me and I would say I love you more than that which is a lot. Thank you for so many wonderful memories with our children, grandchildren and just our trips together and with friends.  Until we meet again my love, I remain Yours forever.

Words can't even describe what I am feeling right now. While I feel sad that I will no longer get voice mail messages from Amos Stoltzfus (my Dad's alias when calling me since I work in marketing for an agricultural company in Lancaster County, PA) or even be able to give my Dad a hug anymore, I know he is no longer suffering and is in a place that is better for him. My Dad was the toughest guy I knew - an absolute fighter when it came to battling cancer. Through it all he maintained his quick sense of humor and his unwavering faith. His talent never ceased to amaze me - from his incredibly creative ad campaigns to the sharp artistic eye he had in his photography. I have my Dad to thank for making me the person that I am today. I followed in his footsteps professionally and hope I am making him proud. He was my go-to guy – whenever I had a question he had the answer for me. I'm going to miss that. I'm going to miss him. Jay, Cheryl and I are truly blessed to have parents like my Mom & Dad. They've given so much of themselves to us (though we all know they love me just a little bit more!) and we know they'd do anything for us. It's our turn now. We'll take care of Mom. Rest easy, Dad. You'll forever be in my heart, and the memories you've given me will always be cherished. I love you, Turd! (Yes, that was a term of endearment between my Dad and I! Yet another example of his humor that will never be forgotten.)

I wish I had known you longer but the time that I did know you was such a pleasure and honor.   I saw a loving and fun father and grandfather  who loved my manicotti. Which was a real pleasure to make for you.

My dad was an amazing man and all who knew him  I know they would say the same.  You NEVER judged a single soul in your life and accepted everyone for who and what they were.  You ALWAYS had a joke to crack or a witty remark to make which always had people laughing and always made sure everyone had a good time .  You have made lots of memories for my boys who will never forget you !!!!  I can’t thank you enough for being the best farter (father) a little girl could ask for.  You are the true meaning of Dad and I am so glad you were mine!  You had a love that was unconditional , for Mom Jay and Joey but  we had something a bit  more special and that was a daddy’s  love for his little girl.  💗. You will be missed terribly but will live on in our hearts and minds forever.  Rest In Peace Daddy, you sure do deserve it!!!! 

So sorry to hear about Mr. Ulicny… So glad to have known him and was always fun & kind to me… I had this photo of the Whitestone Bridge taken back in 1993 that I had Mr. U matte & frame for me… It hangs in our living room… Love & hugs to all… Tom (“Tommy “) Hachtel 

I remember we were allowed to play some tunes on John's Jukebox, while us crazy college kids had a Christmas Get together at the Ulicny Home. Great fun with songs! Very enjoyable and Gracious! Still have the pictures, (But not fit to print)!

I created and designed a logo for John's beautiful photography business.

Dad was an exceptional man.  He had that sense of humor that could make anyone laugh/smile so it was only appropriate he was a photographer.  He loved taking photos and would often see a subject while driving down a road and pull over and grab his camera to capture the moment.  All of his photos, some of which are posted, gives you a glimpse of the world through his eyes.    He absolutely adored his grandchildren and they certainly made him proud.  He was equally proud of myself, brother and sister even though I was the favorite! 😉. And he loved Mom to the moon and back.  He made it through their 56th anniversary; nothing would make him miss that.  Sunday was a bittersweet day.  It was extremely sad to see him pass but we all took comfort knowing his pain was gone.  He will truly be missed however we’re all only passing through and we will see each other again.  I still have a few questions left unanswered yet Dad always had the answer.  Guess it’ll have to wait until we meet again.  Love you bud!!!
