Born in Coolasnaughta, which means The Valley of the Snow, County Carlow Ireland, James Tracey was the 7th child of 10 children of Matthew and Elizabeth Tracey.
After completing his training to be an auto mechanic he emigrated to the United States in 1949. A year later he met Mary Jane Murphy, married in 1953 and proceeded to have 7 children, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren over the course of 61 years of marriage.
He was a loving and hardworking father giving generously to his family.
He took all his family to Ireland to live for 2 1/2 years during the turmoil of the 1970's. As much as he loved his home country, he missed the fast pace of New York City and decided to bring his family back to their original home.
Always the successful business man, he opened with Al Lang a second business which also did remarkably well. Many a customer would say he made their cars better than new. From that enterprise he retired at age 63. Though he had many health issues, he persevered and lived just shy of 90 years.
And though he is gone we see his finest attributes living on in his family
In Mary we see his endless determination.
In James we see his love of a good fight.
In Mark we see his love of music and desire for perfection that he was incapable of achieving but never stopped seeking.
In Elizabeth we see his ability to lead people to achieve their best.
In Jo-Anne we see his insatiable love of knowledge just for the sake of knowledge.
In Colleen we see his good natured generosity.
In Brendan we see his compassion and kindness to the elderly, the sick and the less fortunate.
In his wife Mary, or as he was fond of saying, his better half, we see his love of God and country that they both shared. Her unwavering faith inspired him to be a better man.
Dad, we love you. Rest in peace. We know with the life you have led, you are home in Heaven.
