Freddy was born to Jesus and Maria (Ronchaquira) Sanchez on September 14, 1957, in Bogota, Colombia. He was the caring eldest brother of William (Angela Patricia) Sanchez, David Sanchez, John Sanchez and Mickey (Michelle) Sanchez. He was the adoring uncle of Seth and Hope Sanchez.
From 1985 through 2014, Freddy served in the vocation of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at Picatinny Arsenal in Wharton New Jersey. On April 28, 2014 he was presented with the Achievement Medal for Civilian Service by the Department of the Army for his work in the Directorate of Public Works. After a successful and fulfilling career with the Army, he took an early retirement so that he could care for our mother and, eventually, our father when their major health challenges began. He served in that sacrificial capacity until he himself became seriously ill.
Freddy was a loving son who took care of his parents both in health, making sure they were able to travel and enjoy the world around them, and in disability or illness, researching whatever ailed them so they had the best care. As a caring older brother, he looked after his younger siblings, made sure they were on the right track, and acted as a second father figure helping them establish themselves. He always put family first and helped his immediate family stay connected to their larger extended family in the U.S. and Colombia. Freddy enjoyed traveling, good food, spending time with family, and Latin American culture.
