Anna M. Gallotta passed away on November 4, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Paul. Loving mother of Cheryl Ann Gallotta and Paul James Gallotta. Cherished grandmother of Annamaria DiMassi and Alexander DiMassi. Cherished sister of Elvira Signore, late sister Maria Pisani, and late brother Pasquale Pisani.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on May 6th, 1923 and raised in Caserta, Italy. Anna faced the struggles of life, and learned what sacrificing was all about at an early age. She never lived a lavish lifestyle, nor did she care to. The only thing that seemed to matter to her was family, togetherness, laughter, and love. She was a caring and generous woman.
Growing up without much, she worked hard to support her family through it's better and worse days. She managed to put herself through College in Italy, and became a Professor. When Anna moved back to New York, it was very difficult for her to find a job because of her "accent", but she didn't let anyone or anything hold her back. She walked from door to door for hours on end in the blistering cold selling Avon so that she could provide for her family. She also was a crossing guard for 40 years in which she took such great pride in. No matter what troubles arose, at the end of the day, she always had a very large heart that was made of steel and was filled with nothing but love.
Anna was very religious. She woke up praying the rosary, and went to bed doing the same.
Nonna, you are Forever in our hearts.
-If tears could build a stairway
and thoughts a memory lane
I'd walk right up to heaven
and bring you home again
No Farewell words were spoken
No time to say good-bye
You were gone before I knew it
And only God knows why.
My heart's still active in sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one can ever know.
But now I know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store.
Since you'll never be forgotten
I pledge to you today
A hallowed place within my heart
Is where you'll always stay.
God knows why, with chilling touch,
Death gathers those we love so much,
And what now seems so strange and dim,
Will all be clear, when we meet Him.
