Wayne was born on November 30,1955, in Flint, Michigan to Kenneth and the late Adelyn (Dayle) Pifer. He married Renee LaBarr on March 6, 1976 and together they brought into this world their beautiful daughter Shannon.
He was employed with Consumers Energy as a Gas Lines Worker Crew Leader, and he was very proud of the work he did. Wayne retired in 2015 with 36 years of service. Wayne also loved to play and watch all sports. His favorite teams were U of M Football, Detroit Lions and Detroit Red Wings. Throughout his entire life, Wayne had a great love for dogs. He loved any dog that he owned or knew. As a matter of fact, he always worried more about his dogs than himself. He always had to get home to be sure his dog was taken care of. His current dog, Skyler, is a beautiful Chocolate Lab that he loved with all of his heart. He was so proud of her. She is now in the loving care of Wayne’s daughter, Shannon and her family.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Renee D. Pifer, and his daughter Shannon R (Brandon) Leighton, his father, Kenneth R Pifer. He leaves his siblings; Michael R (Margaret) Pifer, Vicki L (Rick) Wilson, G Thomas Hart, Gordon L (Diane) Hart. He also leaves his precious grandchildren, Rylee S Leighton, Landon R Leighton, Brooklynn R Leighton, Braxton L Leighton, and Lilli Dolan. Sister-in-law, Rexann Wentworth. Nieces and nephews; Nicole (Preston) Jackson, Jordan (Heather LeDuc) Wentworth, Joshua (Ariel) Pifer, Heather (Sonny Vizcarra) West, Matheu Hart, Lacey Hood, Rachel (Joshua) Connelly, Michael S Pifer, Dana, Joel, Lindsay, Jonathan and families. Great nieces and nephews, Quinn and Jameson Hood, Fallon “Adelyn” Connelly, Emma West, Easton, Ryder and Paisley Jackson, Harper and Grayson “Wayne” Wentworth, Jaxson and John Pifer. His grandchildren and nieces and nephews always referred to Wayne as “Grandpa Pants” “Uncle Pants” and “UW”. Wayne also leaves his very good friend, Jon Provorse.
Wayne was preceded in death by his mother, Adelyn (Dayle) Pifer, brother Kevin R Pifer, grandmother Dorothy M. Smith, his mother and father-n-law, Rex and Marjorie LaBarr and sister-n-law Linda Smalley and other loved family members. Wayne was loved by his entire family and he will be forever missed and loved. He will always live on in the memories of his family and everyone that he loved and knew.
Any memorial contributions may be made to Shannon Leighton for the education of Wayne’s grandchildren.
A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2023 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Reigle Funeral Home at 5501 W. Pierson Road, Flushing, Michigan. There will be a memorial service at 6:00pm.
