Monica Anna Pung of Flint passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, having just celebrated her 95th birthday. She was born on January 16, 1929, in Fowler, Michigan, the daughter of Peter J. and Leonora E. (Schmitt) Klein. She married Martin (Shorty) Pung on April 25, 1959. They were members of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, and Monica quickly became a staple of the parish community. The Catholic Church was her anchor. She was involved with the altar society, bingo, funeral dinners, and the N.E.W. Life Center; Monica also volunteered at North End Soup Kitchen and Heartbeat. She was generous with her time, talents, and resources. With quiet strength, compassion and selflessness, Monica put others’ needs before her own. She was a devoted wife, mother and mother-in-law, an amazing grandmother, a wonderful sister, loving aunt and a true friend. We will greatly miss her.
Monica is survived by her daughters: Mary (Kevin) Coleman, Jean Liwak, Karen Dillingham, Barbara (Roger) Campbell, Susan (Michael) LeDuc, and Patricia (John) Mitchell; grandchildren: Eric (DeeAnn), Gregory (Alisha) and Ryan Coleman; Joe and Tim Harkins, Jenna and Ryan Liwak; Ian, Luke and Sean Dillingham; Craig, Evan and Patrick Campbell; Matthew (fiancé Elisabeth Peterson), Monica and Joseph LeDuc; Lou, Grant, J.T. and Joe Mitchell; 5 great-grandchildren: Blake, Owen, Katrina, Harvey and Jacqueline; Sisters-in-law Patricia Snyder and Doris Klein.
