Mary Louise Ingham, age 96, passed away peacefully at her home in Flushing MI, surrounded by family on Sunday, September 22, 2024. Mary entered the Kingdom of Heaven to join her beloved husband, Sinclair “Saint” Ingham, and her grandson Joshua. Mary was born in Flint, Michigan on February 9th, 1928 to her parents, William Calvin Clark and Martha Elizabeth Gann. She is survived by her two daughters, Wendy Ingham (CO), and Dawn Monreal with her husband Gordon. She also leaves behind three granddaughters: Alisha (Monreal) Thompson and her husband, Tony; Heather Monreal; and Morgan Lemon (PA) and her husband, James. Additionally, she is survived by her two great-granddaughters, Clair Thompson and Madison Thompson. She will also be missed by many cherished friends, neighbors, and cousins. Mary enjoyed a rich social life and many adventures, yet her proudest achievement was her wonderful family and the many generations she nurtured. Whether it was attending school plays, celebrating milestones, or enjoying quiet moments together, Mary loved sharing her life with her family.
Mary grew up in Michigan, spending her childhood summers vacationing in Pennsylvania with her extended family. She was very fond of her Pennsylvania Dutch roots. Mary was a longtime member of Court Street Methodist Church in Flint, where she was married in 1951 and participated in her women's circle and the historical committee. Mary received her B.A. from Michigan Normal College and went on to work passionately as a teacher. She spent her 27-year career at Carmen Park Elementary. Following her retirement in 1988, she took up the role of President of her local chapter of the Women's Republican Party. She soon became a delegate to the State Convention and served on the Board of Directors for the State Republican Women’s Club. Mary loved traveling most of all and went on many special trips with her husband Saint. Some of her favorite places she visited were Scotland, Switzerland, Germany, England, and Luxembourg. The couple also spent time traveling the United States, and completed a multi-week train trip across the country for their 50th wedding anniversary. Mary and her daughters and granddaughters traveled to the Grand Canyon in 2012, a trip that they frequently reminisced and laughed about. In her home life, Mary loved playing the piano, eating (many!) chocolate desserts, and picking out flowers for her garden.
Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, September 28th with a viewing from 9:30 to 11:00 AM and service at 11:00 AM at Reigle Funeral Home, 5501 Pierson Rd. Flushing, MI. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills at 1:00 PM, 4413 Flushing Rd, Flint, MI.
