William "Bill" Thomas Eckmann, 82, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away on September 20, 2024, at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House. He was born on July 12, 1942, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to the late William and Sophie Eckmann.
Bill proudly served in the U.S. Navy, enlisting right after high school and serving on the USS George Washington, the first nuclear submarine. After four years of dedicated service, he transitioned to a long and fulfilling career at Control Data in Houston, Texas, where he worked for over 40 years before retiring.
In 2006, Bill and his beloved wife, Carol, moved to Huntsville, Arkansas, where they fulfilled their dream of becoming ranchers. They raised a small herd of cattle and built their dream home together. After eight years of enduring long winters, they relocated to Florida in search of warmer weather in 2014.
Bill was known as a talented handyman who loved helping his neighbors with various projects. He had a generous spirit and made lasting connections in every community he called home.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Carol; his children, Janet Eckmann and William "Bill" Eckmann, and his wife, Traci, along with their daughter, Kaitlen; step-son Kelly Kipper; sister Mary and her husband Richard Herring; brother Donald and his wife Ann Marie Eckmann; as well as many loving relatives and cherished friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church. Bill’s legacy of kindness and service will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
