Sandra S. Gorman of Palm Coast passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018, at her home. Sandra was born in Pennsylvania to Page and Abigail Schildnecht in 1935. Sandra retired after over 30 years of service as a mathematician with the National Security Agency at Ft. Meade, Maryland.
She was a very active member of St. Mark’s by the Sea Lutheran Church, where she served as an usher, greeter and Altar Guild member. She was also a member of the Matanzas and Palm Coast Yacht Clubs. As an Elks Club member, she served as a day administrator and volunteered at a local food bank.
Her husband, Joseph Gorman in 2005, preceded Sandra in death along with both of her parents. She is survived by her stepdaughters, Elizabeth Sarrett and Joan Ann Hathaway.
Sandra was an extremely charitable person, establishing a scholarship at her husband’s college alma mater and making a significant donation to the Sloan Kettering Memorial Cancer Center. Along with these, Sandra routinely donated to numerous health and service organizations. She was a member of the American Association of University Women.
Arrangements are under the care of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral, Memorial Gardens and Crematory. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday April 7 at 1:00 pm at St. Mark’s by the Sea Lutheran Church, 303 Palm Coast Parkway, Palm Coast, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or the local food bank in Bunnell. Reception to follow at location to be announced at the church.
