Robert "Bob" Wayne Richmond, 73, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away on December 19, 2023, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on February 2, 1950, in Beckley, West Virginia, to the late Archie Dean and Anna Maxine Richmond.
Bob graduated from Shady Springs High School, Class of 1968, and pursued his passion for mathematics by earning a Bachelor's degree from West Virginia Tech. During his college years, he enlisted in the US Navy with the aspiration of flying aircraft off carriers and dreaming of joining the Astronaut Program. His dedication earned him a commendation from Senator Robert Bird. Unfortunately, his hearing was impacted by his military service, leading to an honorable discharge.
Undeterred, Bob embarked on a new journey and established his own General Contracting Business. In 2007, during the housing bubble bust, he retired from contracting and transitioned into teaching mathematics at Daytona State College. A true entrepreneur, he later founded a non-emergency medical transport company, which he successfully ran for five years before passing the reins to his daughter in 2021.
An avid pilot, Bob owned single and twin Cessnas, finding immense joy in the skies. He also cherished moments of tranquility while fishing, and although he may have dozed off during many movies, he reveled in watching the sunrise. In his younger years, he embraced the thrill of snow skiing and jet skiing.
Bob at one time was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Jaycees, where he served as president at one time. His memberships and contributions exemplified his commitment to community and service.
Surviving Bob is his devoted wife of 21 years, Donna, along with his children, Robert and Alesha Richmond II, Mandy and Steve Todd, and step-daughter Angela and Michael Hamilton. He leaves a legacy of love for his grandchildren: Stephen, Mia, Austin, Mercedes, Ty, Taylor, and Levi. Also cherishing his memory are his brother Randy and Laura Richmond, along with numerous other loving relatives and wonderful friends.
Bob's life was a testament to his resilience, ambition, and the love he shared with those around him. His spirit will be dearly missed, but his impact will be everlasting in the hearts of all who knew him.
