I had Mr. Crowson  for 9th grade math during the 1955-1956 school year.  I remember him as a no-nonsense, excellent teacher.  We immediately respected him because of his service in the Marines and his command of the classroom.  Each day he gave us a long list of homework problems to turn in the next day.  He had us memorize the squares of each number from 1 through 25, and I have these all memorized to this day.  He maintained his remarkable mental sharpness for 93 years and I suspect this was in part due to staying in excellent physical shape through tennis and then pickleball.  He was fortunate to marry Jean, who was instrumental in his longevity and good health.    Tom Thomas

Joe was such a kind man.  Jim and I enjoyed the time we spent with him at  all the tennis tournaments we attended.  Hopefully he and Jim can meet up for some doubles or at least Jim can direct him to an open court.  Condolences for his family that he so loved.

I have lost my birthday pal! Our last calls have been hard to accept, that he was slowly leaving you and all of us. You, Cynthia, and I may be the last of our U-High class. I was one day older than Joe. We never forgot each of our birthdays. Jean, please keep in touch. I extend my sympathy to all of your family.
