Mr. Morey was born August 27, 1939 in Paterson, New Jersey, a son of Phillip and Naomi Vreeland Morey.
He grew up in Bloomingdale, and at the age of 17, he joined the United States Marine Corps. A well decorated veteran, he served two tours in Vietnam and received two Bronze Stars, two Silver Stars, and multiple Purple Hearts. He served as a Drill Instructor and as the head recruiter for the Marine Corps in Manhattan overseeing 6 offices. He was also a member of the traveling All-Marine Boxing Team and played on several Marine football teams. Mr. Morey retired from the Marines in 1977 as a First Sergeant. He moved his wife and two children to St. Augustine in 1976. After his military retirement in 1977, the family started a cleaning business. That same year, he founded Morey Moving Company, which is now a 3rd generation family run company that services the entire United States. In 2003 he relocated to Flagler County and there he met his wife, the former Kathleen Harrington Keppler. He and Kathleen were married in 2006. Throughout his years Mr. Morey built a big, beautiful blended family, resulting in 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren (with one more on the way). He is also survived by his two sisters, Carol Gormley and Joyce Kopp and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Morey enjoyed golfing, playing cards, gambling, pulling silly pranks and making people laugh. He never met a stranger and was always the first to step in to assist others. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following various football and baseball teams.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert "Bob" Morey.
