Richard D. Darby

Born on January 9, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Richard was the son of the late John and Marion Darby. After graduating from Upper Darby High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served with honor aboard the USS Saratoga from 1964 to 1968. Following his military service, Richard began a successful career with SEPTA as an electrician and later retired after 25 years of dedicated service as a supervisor.

In 1970, Richard met the love of his life, Mary Ann, and they married on June 19, 1971, at the United Methodist Church in Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania. Their 52 years of marriage were a testament to their deep love and commitment to one another. Sadly, Mary Ann predeceased Richard on December 11, 2023.

Richard was an avid golfer in his younger years and had a special fondness for spending weekends at the beach. He found great joy in spending time with his family and loved ones.

In addition to his wife, Richard was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Jessica Darby, who passed away in 2016. He is survived by his children: James (Maureen) Darby and Kimberly Darby; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
