Peter Thomas Chiodo was received into heaven on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Born April 8, 1942, Pete grew up in Philadelphia, PA, with his two younger brothers and their hard working parents. He was preceded in death by his father, William Chiodo, mother Josephine Chiodo, and cherished wife of 57 years, Frances Chiodo. Pete is survived by his children Kristine, Peter Jr. (Karen), Michael (Michelle, fiancée), and Jon (Melanie); his grandchildren Adrian, Caitlin, Ryan, Madison, Chase, and Jadyn (soon to be); and his brothers Jim and Frank.
Pete earned his BS in Business Administration from Penn State in 1964 and shortly after began his service in the US Navy, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. After that, he entered the business world, culminating with his executive positions at AT&T and Lucent Technologies. Pete was an extremely hard working person. His hard work paid off as he was able to retire early to live his dream life on a golf course near the ocean. Retirement didn’t stop his desire to serve, acting as a long time member of the Grand Haven CDD, ensuring others could enjoy their golf course living.
In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his family, putting together puzzles, playing games, and coaching little league baseball. With the extended family, he loved playing Santa at the firehouse Christmas parties, giving out presents to everyone, and vacationing in Ocean City, NJ. Pete played poker regularly with his Grand Haven friends, was a Member of the Palm Coast Duplicate Bridge Club, and held the rank of Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League. He was an avid golfer, spending plenty of time on the golf courses in Mendham, NJ and in Grand Haven. While not golfing, he enjoyed watching and discussing sports, especially Philadelphia and Penn State sports teams. He could often be heard saying: “We are … Penn State!”
A funeral mass will be held at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church in Flagler Beach Florida on Friday January 13 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
