Patrick Joseph Collins, 89, of Palm Coast died, Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in 1928 in Carrigaholt, Ireland. He came to the US in 1947 and met his wife to be, Frances Parducci in 1949 in the Catskills, NY.
Pat joined the Safeway chain stores in 1947. He took a leave of absence from Safeway and went to work on the Queen of Bermuda. When he came home from Bermuda, he was then drafted into the US Army on September 27, 1950 to serve in Korea. His training was in Washington D.C., with the Fort Belvera #116 combat engineers Co. He became engaged to Frances Parducci before he left for Korea. Pat was back in the US by June 20, 1952 and he and Frances married in NY on July 11, 1952.
Safeway became Finast , Patrick worked there for 30 years. He then opened his Lunchenette, Pat’s Sweet Shop, in Bellville, NJ, which he owned for 12 years. Pat and Frances lived in the Bronx, NY and moved to Midland Park, NJ in 1964. They then moved to Palm Coast, FL, in 1995.
Patrick is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances; three children, Susan, Kevin and Sean; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations in memory of Patrick to your favorite charity.
