Patricia Grooms Waller, age 86, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 17, 2021 due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease. She was born September 27, 1935, in Charleston, West Virginia to Alta Marie and William Marcus Grooms. She graduated from Charleston High School in 1953, then from Charleston General Hospital’s nursing school, later moving to Winter Park, FL where she rose to the position of Supervisor of Operating and Recovery Rooms at Winter Park Memorial Hospital. Searching for a new adventure, Pat joined the United States Air Force in May 1966 as an Operating Room Nurse. During her time at McConnell AFB in Kansas, she met and married James Edward Waller, Jr., an Air Force pilot. Pat and Ed had three daughters and the family lived in numerous locations around the U.S. as Pat served as an Air Force officer’s wife active in the Officers Wives Club, bowling leagues, volunteering, and raising the kids. Pat and Ed moved to Palm Coast, FL in 1993 where she enjoyed playing mahjong with friends, league bowling, cruising, and traveling to visit her kids and grandkids. She is survived by her husband, Ed; children Lisa Calhoun and husband Noel of Vienna, VA, Lori Debetaz and husband Weylin of Flower Mound, TX, and Sharon Green and husband Eric of New Port Richey, FL. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Emily, Jake, Katie, Amanda, Erica, and Colin. Memorial services celebrating Pat’s life will be held on Thursday October 21, 2021 at 6:00 PM in the chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road S. Flagler Beach. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 until the time of services at the Funeral Home. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to Advent Health Hospice Care for their compassionate care this past year. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
