Born on September 5, 1944, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Owen was the son of the late Dr. Owen Daniel Moore and Emily Ann Roberts. At the age of 17, Owen joined the U.S. Air Force, where his passion for aviation was ignited. After his honorable discharge, he pursued a career in flying, attending pilot school in Florida and earning his Commercial Pilot License.
Owen married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Hill, in June 1961, and together they had three children. Following his service, Owen embarked on a successful career with Piedmont Airlines, which later became part of US Airways and American Airlines. He dedicated 33 years to his aviation career before retiring.
In addition to his professional achievements, Owen had a deep love for motorcycling. He was an avid Harley-Davidson rider and published a Bike Week Magazine for ten years. His interests also included piloting his private plane, going on cruises, and traveling across the country to attend various Bike Week events and airshows.
Owen later married Tracey Finley, and they shared many cherished years together. He was preceded in death by his children, Danny Moore (2018) and Margaret Kelly Brown (2022), as well as his second wife, Tracey Finley Moore (2023).
Owen is survived by his daughter, Terri Nardslico, and her husband, Al Nardslico; step-son, Randy Finley; former wife, Nancy Moore Ellis; his sister, Emily Ann Suddarth (Sissie), and her husband, Jim Suddarth; grandchildren Natalie, William, AJ, Deanna, Garrett, Catherine and great-grandchildren Zachary, Nicholas, Matthew, Nevaeh, Lydia, Raylee and Mikey and many other loving relatives and wonderful friends.
Owen's life will be celebrated at a later date. The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the staff of Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House for their compassionate care.
