Michael “Mike” Gallagher 80, of Palm Coast, FL. passed away on May 24, 2023, after a long illness. He was born on December 3, 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Francis and Angela Gallagher (Ottman). Mike was recruited right out of college by the Central Intelligence Agency and spent several years with them and then served in the Army National Guard for a time. He then went on to own a motorcycle shop in Orlando for a couple of years and then for another change of pace he went on to work for the Orlando Fire Department. The family then moved to Georgia where he worked as a Lieutenant with the Hall County Fire Department.
In 1974 he and his wife, Barbara started their own private emergency ambulance service which became the largest in Georgia and South Carolina. They sold the business in 1995 and retired to Palm Coast, Florida. His memberships included the NE Florida Rolls Royce Club, and he was a 27 year member of the The Hammock Dunes Golf Club. Mike enjoyed playing golf, cycling long distances and boating on his 44 foot Express Cruiser he named “Adventure”.
Mike will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his son, Derek Fowkes in 2009. Survivors include his wife of 51 years Barbara; daughter, Christina Henson; grandchildren, Georgia Henson, Julia Henson Garrett and her husband, Tyler, Jared Henson, Miles Fowkes and Blake Fowkes; great-grandchildren, Willow and Wrenley Henson; brother, Francis Gallagher and many more loving relatives, wonderful friends and golfing buddies. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Bunnell Building Renovation Fund.
A visitation for Mike will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach, Florida 32136, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
