Mary Ann Darby, 77, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away on December 11, 2023. She was born on July 14, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Thomas Patrick Sheedy and Mary E. McAnally. Mary Ann was raised in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, where she cultivated a foundation of love and family values.
In 1970, Mary Ann crossed paths with the love of her life, Richard D. Darby. Their connection was instant, and in 1971, they embarked on a lifelong journey of love and commitment through marriage. Together, they raised two children, James and Kimberly.
During the early years of her marriage, Mary Ann dedicated herself to being a wonderful homemaker, focusing on creating a nurturing environment for her growing family. As her children matured, she transitioned to the insurance industry, showcasing her adaptability and work ethic.
In the year 2000, Mary Ann and Richard embarked on a new chapter, relocating to Palm Coast, Florida. Here, Mary Ann discovered joy in spending leisurely days at the beach, basking in the sun to achieve the perfect tan. Family vacations at the Outer Banks, The Florida Keys where she loved to explore lighthouses. When not seaside, her passion for shopping brought her delight and excitement.
Mary Ann faced the heartbreak of losing her granddaughter, Jessica Darby, in 2016, and her sister, Susanne Ginter, also in 2016. Despite these challenges, she remained resilient and surrounded herself with the love of her family and friends.
Survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Richard D. Darby, Mary Ann leaves behind a legacy of love and family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children James and his wife Maureen Darby, Kimberly Darby, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, her sister Judith Sheedy, and numerous other loving relatives and friends.
To honor Mary Ann's memory, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, an organization she held close to her heart.
Mary Ann Darby will be remembered for her unwavering love, resilience, and the joy she brought to the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
A visitation for Mary Ann will be held Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach, Florida 32136, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
