John Mollica 78, of Flagler Beach, passed away on August 15, 2019 at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House. He was born on September 19, 1940 Port Chester, New York to the late Sebastian and Sebastiana Mollica (Marino). As a young man he served in the US Air Force for four years during peacetime. Once he was honorably discharged he worked as a Tool Maker and raised his family on Rhode Island. In 1993 he moved to Ponte Vedra Beach and in 2002 they decided to split their time between Flagler Beach, Florida and West Dover, Vermont. John enjoyed playing tennis, golf, biking, swimming and ice skating. He was a devoted grandfather and loved to spend time with his grandchildren teaching them to play tennis and cross-country ski. He also enjoyed “fixing”, there wasn’t a bicycle or tennis racket he could not bring back to life. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Rita; children, John Mollica and his wife Jenn Pham, Michele Mollica, Matthew and his wife Penny Mollica, Christa and her husband Matt Waryas; grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Anthony, Keira, Kaia, Chloe and Danny; great-granddaughter, Bella; brother, Charles Mollica and many more loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Donations in his memory may be made to the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Mayo Clinic. Funeral Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care and trust of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home and Cemetery.
