John Kenneth Corrigan 87, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away on March 22, 2020. He was born on September 22, 1932 in Weatherly, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph and Katherine Corrigan (Englehart). As a young man he proudly served in the United States Army in the Army Security Agency. After three years of service he received his honorable discharge and then pursued his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education. John spent his entire career of thirty two years as an educator in the public school system. In 1962, he met his wife and best friend, Helene. They were married in 1964 and built a happy and wonderful life together. In 2002 he and his wife moved to Palm Coast from Binghamton, New York.
John’s greatest love was spending time with his beloved family, especially his granddaughters. He had his pilot’s license and he enjoyed fishing, golfing, boating and computers. His memberships included the New York State Teachers Association of Retirees and Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church.
John was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph, Paul and Eugene Corrigan. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Helene; daughters, Kelly and her husband Timothy Groves, Stephanie Corrigan; grandchildren, Gabrielle and Juliette; nieces, Karen Rockoff, Patricia Serafin and Nancy Fertenbaugh; sister-in-law, Mary Louise Serafin. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org. A memorial mass will be celebrated at a later date.
