James “Jimmy” Sylvester Barksdale Sr. 73, of Palm Coast passed away on September 3, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic. He was born on February 23, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Robert Barksdale and Birdie Allen. Early on in his career he was a corrections officer in Baltimore, Maryland and Tucson, Arizona. In 1987 he moved back to his hometown to take over the family business in home improvement renovations. In 2002 health issues forced him to leave the business and in 2006 he finally retired to Palm Coast, Fl. Jimmy loved to fish all over Flagler County with his wife at his side. Their favorite “spot” being Bing’s Landing. He will be remembered for never forgetting to send a birthday, anniversary or get-well card that he personally made. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Sue; sons, James (Lucet) Barksdale Jr., Michael Barksdale; grandchildren, Gary Barksdale, James Davon Barksdale, Shakeem Scott, Jasmine Barksdale and Corey Barksdale; great-grandchildren, Jaylyn Barksdale, G’Darrien Barksdale, Sariyah Barksdale and Allicen Scott; sister, Essie Cade; sisters-in-law, Elaine Barksdale and Tina Crosby; brother-in-law, Ernest (Cynthia) Benford and many more loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
