George was born on March 18, 1951 to the late Joachim and Margarete Kroll Cyhan in Munich, Germany, and came to America at the age of 1 after his family relocated to South River, NJ. George was a proud graduate of South River High School and member of the South River HS Rams Football team. Following graduation, he attended Trenton State College where he received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Upon graduation George joined E.I. DuPont in 1974 as a plant accountant at the Parlin Site and remained a valued employee of the finance department in Wilmington, DE until his retirement in 2018.
George married his wife, Joan de Lhery, on June 29, 1985, and had two sons: Thomas and Michael.
After his retirement George and Joan moved to Flagler Beach, FL. George enjoyed traveling to National Parks, boating, riding his bike, attending sporting events, spending time with his family, and working on projects around the house. He was an avid fan of the NY Giants and NY Yankees. In his earlier years George would help coach his sons’ Little League baseball teams, CYO basketball teams, and volunteer as an Assistant Scout Master of Troop 803, where he took great pride in helping his sons achieve the rank of Eagles Scout.
George is survived by Joan, his loving wife of 37 years. As well as his two sons, Thomas and his wife Alexandria Cyhan of Savannah GA, and Michael Cyhan of Houston, TX. He also leaves one brother, David Cyhan and his wife, Denise of Bensalem, PA: one nephew, David Cyhan of Philadelphia, PA, and a niece, Carolyn Kifolo and husband Nickolas of Lewisburg, PA.
To celebrate George’s life, family and friends will be received Friday, March 10th from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South in Flagler Beach. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church, 915 N. Central Avenue in Flagler Beach.
