Her parents Carl and Anna Wiediger were blessed with her birth on April 20, 1925 in Buffalo, New York. Their family, which consisted of a twin sister and seven brothers, moved to Utica, New York. This is where she met and married Francis Hunt on March 29, 1951 and started their family of two daughters. They moved to Syracuse, New York where they raised their family and became involved in the community for nearly 50 years.
Florence was a member of First English Church, along with her husband and two daughters. She sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. They were always very involved in church activities and giving back. She took a job outside the home at Deluxe Check Printers as a bookkeeper. During that time, she became very ill and God called on her to serve him and gave her health. From that day forward she dedicated her life to her God, her community and helping as many people as possible. She went to senior facilities and nursing homes spreading the word of God. She even went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Bible Studies from Valley Forge Christian College at the age of 72, graduating at the top of her class. The core of her service included ministering, teaching Sunday school and working in the office at North Central Church in North Syracuse. Ultimately, Francis and Florence moved to Palm Coast, Florida, where she preached at Evangel Assembly of God in 2005. She was excited about spreading the word to everyone she met. Hundreds of lives were touched, advised, and given faith. There wasn’t anything more legendary than Flo’s Monday night Bible Study classes. She welcomed anyone wanting to learn the word in her home. Many went on to become Reverends themselves, inspired by her teaching style.
Florence kept her mind sharp by reading, not only the Bible, but all different genres of books. She also loved doing all types of puzzles; jigsaw, find-a-word, patchwork, etc. Her card game of choice was Skip-Bo and she wouldn’t quit until she won!
There wasn’t anything more important to her than her spiritual relationship with God and the love for her family.
She was predeceased by her husband Francis, her daughter Elaine and granddaughter Kristin.
Our family will cherish the memories she gave us, with her guidance, advice, and kindness. Her laugh, her smile and her stories of the old days will be treasured always. We are truly blessed for all the years we had to love her.
“I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
