

Nancy Jean Law Young Potter, 79, of Oak Hill WV, formerly of Fayetteville, WV passed away peacefully after a long illness on February 12, 2025 at BARH Hospital in Beckley, WV and entered into the kingdom of Heaven. Nancy was born on May 18, 1945 in Oak Hill WV to the late Audna "Bill" Pershing Law and Alice Ina Dickson Law.
Nancy was a 1963 graduate of Fayetteville High School. She married, raised a family and was active in her community for many years. She was a former Fayetteville City Council member who strongly advocated for the building of the new fire department, a member of the Junior Women's Club, a member of the Coal Country Cloggers and a member of the VFW Post 4326 women's auxiliary. Nancy retired from the State of WV after nearly 40 years of service. She also waitressed at the Mountain Laurel Restaurant in her spare time. After her retirement and in her leisure time she enjoyed hosting dinners and functions, parties and family gatherings with her husband, Dan. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends with great food, great stories and deep laughter. She enjoyed sitting around the table or on the porch with loved ones. She loved life and her family deeply and let us not forget the love for her dogs.
Those left behind to cherish and honor her memory include her husband, Dan Potter of Oak Hill, her brother, John Law, of Charleston, her daughter, Lisa Wolff and husband, Doug, of Colorado Springs, CO, her sons, Kenneth Young Jr. and wife, Mary, of Charlotte, NC, Aaron Young of Kegley. Nancy had five grandchildren. Madison Young of Oak Hill, Kaegan Young of Kegley, Mason Young of Oak Hill, Kyler Young of Kegley, Braylee Young of Kegley. Beloved cousins and relatives, an uncle and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday February 18, 2025 at Dodd Payne Hess Funeral Home in Fayetteville, WV with Pastor Mike Hicks officiating. The family will receive visitors from 12:00 to 1:00. Burial will follow in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
