Hermel N. “Jay” Fink, Jr., age 73, of Fayetteville, WV, passed away on February 12, 2022, at home with his family after a long illness. Born April 4, 1948, Jay was the son of Hermel N. Fink and Virginia Perry Fink, who preceded him in death.
He was a proud U. S. Air Force veteran having served four years with the 49th Security Police Squadron at Spangdahlem AB, Germany, and Holloman AFB, New Mexico. He was a retired welder-mechanic who had worked for several mining equipment manufacturers and on coal preparation plants. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church at Fayetteville and last attended Minnie Belle Baptist Church at Corliss. He was a 1966 graduate of Fayetteville High School. Jay was a quiet man of integrity who loved his family fiercely and who was a good friend to many. He was also a little mischievous at times.
Jay was married to his high school sweetheart, Shirley Light Fink, for 55 years. In addition to his loving wife, he leaves behind a dear son, Barry Jay Fink, of whom he was so proud, and Barry’s wonderful wife, Amy Jo Fink; precious grandchildren, Bradley Jay Fink, Ryan Walker Fink, Jacob (Grace) Cogar, and Kaysie Cogar; great-grandchildren, Cole Cogar and Regan Cogar, all of the Fayetteville area; special niece and nephews Robin Drake of Gassaway, WV, Carl Stone of Oak Hill, WV, and Greg Stone of Lansing, WV; brothers-in-law, Alfred (Maurice) Light of Buhl, Alabama, and Dwayne Barker of Green Bank, WV; several other nieces and nephews; and, many friends.
Services for Jay will be on Thursday, February 17th, 2022 at 1PM at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home in Fayetteville, WV, with Pastor Justin Seay officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service. Burial will be in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, on Pea Ridge Road, Oak Hill, WV 25901.

The family would like to thank Dr. E. J. Salon and the many other medical providers and second floor nursing staff at Raleigh General Hospital for the care of their dear loved one during his recent hospital stay.
