He was born June 17th, 1929 to the late Demi Mae Ellison Bostic Ellison. Doyle was a retired coal miner, having worked for West Moreland for 20 years. He also served for 2 years in the U.S. Army prior to the mines. He enjoyed attending flea markets and buying cars. Doyle was a member of the Oak Hill Apostolic Holiness Church.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his first wife Norma Ellison, his second wife Virginia Ellen Royal Mazur Ellison, an infant girl, Connie Ellison, son Joe Ellison and a daughter Vanesa Via.
Those left to cherish his memory are daughters Brenda Neff of Fayetteville, Becky Dillon of Fayetteville and Rita Hylton (J.R.) of South Carolina, sons Terry Smith (Marie) of Fayetteville, Sherman Smith (Norma) of Fayetteville, Gary Smith of Oak Hill, Rex Ellison (Dawn) of Shady Springs, Shawn Mazur of Princeton and daughter Sandra Passmore of Georgia. Also left to cherish Doyle’s memory are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, April 9th at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 8th from 6-8 PM.
