Born September 10, 1957, he was the son of Patricia Lee MacAllister Bennett of Fayetteville and George Edward Bennett.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Edward Bennett.
Mr. Bennett was a lifelong resident of Fayetteville and member of Fayetteville United Methodist Church. He was a 1975 graduate of Fayetteville High School and received bachelor’s degrees in English and Economics in 1980 from the University of Virginia where he was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity.
Mr. Bennett was a Master Gardener and had wide-ranging intellectual pursuits.
Survivors include his mother, Patricia Bennett; sister, Sarah Bennett Blankenship and husband, James C. Blankenship, III, of Fayetteville; brother, Herbert Morton Bennett and wife, Lea Sparks Bennett, of Lynchburg, VA; niece, Mary MacAllister Bennett and husband Burke Wombwell, and son Jack, of Raleigh, NC; nephew, George Sparks Bennett of Raleigh, NC; niece, Elizabeth Morton Bennett of Richmond, VA.
The service, with arrangements by Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, will be held at the Fayetteville United Methodist Church, 120 High Street, Fayetteville, at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 21, with Rev. Kelly Martin officiating, followed by a graveside service at Huse Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 20, at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, 350 West Maple Avenue, Fayetteville from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
