She was born on April 25, 1937 at Fayetteville, she was the daughter of the late Bill Alvin Blake and Evelyn Juanita Armstrong Blake.
Barbara attended Brownsville Holiness Church at Gauley Bridge and Fayetteville High School. She was spunky, sassy, spoke her mind and had a great big heart; loved to go to church and sing. Her family was her pride and joy and she loved it when they came to visit. If you went to her house and left hungry it was your own fault. You didn’t leave there without her giving you something. She loved giving and helping others, and was a wonderful cook. Her biscuits and gravy, meat loaf, and pinto beans and cornbread couldn’t be beat. She loved to have yard sales and go to them.
Besides her parents, her husband, Percy Lee Gilliam, preceded her in death; her sons, Everett Gilliam, Delbert Gilliam, and Jerry Gilliam; and brothers: Pete, Billy, Gene, and Roy.
She leaves behind lots of precious memories for her family and friends. Survivors include her sons: Roger Gilliam, Luke (Tina) Gilliam, and Tony Gilliam; daughters: Rose Mary (Neal) Portzen, Donna Gilliam, and Evelyn “Naddie” (Don) Gravatt; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
