Ann Bibb Covington, 72, of Fayetteville passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Alfred C and Wilma Kathleen (Craigo) Bibb, and step-daughter of the late John L. Holliday.
Following her graduation from Fayetteville High School in 1962, Ann worked for the federal government in Washington, (Public Housing Administration and Food and Drug Administration). She returned to Fayetteville and worked for Charles H. Wendell, CPA. She then worked as a secretary for the Fayette County Board of Education and retired from there after 27 years.
Ann was a lifelong Methodist, an avid Republican and loved all things Southern.
In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, Alfred Cary Bibb, Jr. and Robert David Bibb; and her husband, Douglas Carter Covington.
Surviving Ann are her children and their spouses, Angela Ann and John Mark Walkup of Summersville, WV, and Douglas Carter II and Melissa Covington of Marion, VA; Ann’s grandchildren, John Wesley Carte III, Douglas Carter Covington III, Kathleen Bryn Walkup, and John Robert Walkup II.
Ann was surrounded by the love and support of her beloved Fayetteville community. For many years, her friends helped her stay as independent as possible while she battled Multiple Sclerosis. She remained active in church, clubs and community programs.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Fayetteville United Methodist Church with Pastor Timothy Bleigh officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM, Thursday at the church.
