Yee Mo Yam, 64, of Springfield, VA, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Falls Church, VA. His passing leaves an empty void in the hearts of many as he spread joy to those he encountered, and he epitomized what it meant to be a servant to others.
Yee Mo Yam was born in Fuzhou, Fujian, China to Lai Yim Yam and Lan Ching Shiu on September 12, 1960. He married Yuk Mui Chan and raised two children, Mei Shan Yam and Shing Wai Yam, who will continue his legacy in life.
A loving husband and devoted father, his career was in culinary arts where he worked as a chef for many years. Yee's greatest accomplishment; however was his dedication to his family. He dedicated more than fifty years of his life to taking care of his brother and his three sisters, and then to his wife, his daughter, and his son. His dedication never wavered as he aged. He showered his grandchildren with endless gifts while relishing the moments he spent with them. That dedication was most evident with his willingness to help when called upon while asking for nothing in return which will leave an everlasting impact behind.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lai Yim Yam.
He is survived by his mother, Lan Ching Shiu, spouse, Yuk Chan, his children and in-laws, Mei Yam (Aaron Johnson) and Shing Yam (Khanh Nguyen), his brother and sisters and their spouses, LiPing Ren, LaiFun Yam, YiWen Ren, and LaiKuen Yam, his grandchildren, Emily Yam, Joseph Yam, and Amir Johnson, and nieces and nephews, Jean Yim, Jodi Yim, Alan Lam, Carrie Lam, ChenJie Ren, Alice Tsang.
