Yahya is survived by his wife, Minoo Beklik; his children, Kaveh and Homayra; Homayra’s husband, Amir Massumi; sisters Shamsi Shahmiri, Iran Abtahi, and Aghdas Ashtari. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Amirzadeh and Mohammad Bager Sari, sisters Behjat, and brothers Amir Hossein and Hamid Reza of Iran.
Born on March 6, 1934, in Arak, Iran, Yahya Sari earned his medical degree from the Mashhad University School of Medicine in 1963 and completed his specialization in Ear, Nose, and Throat surgery in 1971 at Tehran University. He emigrated to the United States with his family in 1981 after 25 years of medical practice. In the United States, he resided in Houston and Austin while preparing for the medical exam to gain his medical practice license. Upon completing the exams, he moved his family to Virginia and established his practice in Southern Maryland. He retired in 2013 after nearly half a century of practice and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved people and their company and always found positives in the people he met.
Dr. Sari was loved by his patients for his ultimate caring and attention to their well-being. His doctors, friends, neighbors, and family members loved his sweet and kind character. He sacrificed himself for his
family. Memories of his character and life will remain in the hearts and minds of those this gentle and kind man touched.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 18, with a funeral scheduled to follow at 12:00 p.m. at National Funeral Home located at 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Yahya’s life.
