Virginia S. Ocel

April 1, 2024 – July 27, 2024

Virginia Sanborn Ocel of Alexandria, VA, passed away peacefully at her home on July 27, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on April 1, 1932, in Virginia to Merritt and Rose (Dove) Sanborn. She grew up with her older Brothers, Irvin and Ernest, and her older Sister Lois.

Virginia was a lifelong native of the Northern Virginia area, where she grew up and raised her family. In her early years, she enjoyed sewing clothes for her children. She later became an avid bowler for many leagues with friends and family. She had a strong passion for health and fitness and very much enjoyed her routine of visiting the gym multiple times a week.

Happily married for 33 years, both Virginia and Raymond (Ray) Ocel, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners at their home.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Merritt and Rose Sanborn, her older Brothers Irvin and Ernest, older Sister Lois and her beloved husband Ray.

She is survived by her Son Alvin Greenstreet, Daughter Carol (Mortimer) Tubridy, Five Grandchildren - Tina (Jeff) Allen, Kristin (Dominic) Velotta, Michelle Greenstreet, Jessica (Dustin) Dickinson and Brian (Sarah) Tubridy, Fifteen Great Grandchildren – Kaitlyn, Madison, Joshua, Andrew, Sydney, Matthew, Jacob, Clare, Danny, Brielle, Carter, Evelyn, Myles, Hudson and Haley.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am, on Saturday, August 3 at the National Memorial Park in Falls Church.
