Family was most important to her, and she was the true embodiment of selflessness, grace, and love. While quiet and humble, she was always the most popular person in the room. At Ashby, people vied for a seat at her table, and staff constantly bestowed royal titles upon her. She was universally loved whether you knew her for a lifetime or just a few minutes. Virginia was a bright light in an often dark world.
Virginia was born Virginia Lee Muse on 3 September 1935 in Dante, VA to John Alfred Muse and Mary Virginia Fugate. She graduated from King's College and moved to DC where Virginia met her future husband John William (Bill) Foley. They married on February 23, 1957 in Washington, DC and the two traveled for CIA to Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan while adding five children to the family. Virginia is survived by her children: Bill, Terri, Mary, Mike, and Pat. She enjoyed her many grandchildren: Christopher, Heather, Joey, Tim, Dillon, Kelly, Ryan and Emma. She is also survived by great grandchildren: Abby, Sean, and Henry. She was also affectionately called “Aunt Ginny” by her nieces and nephews and close friends. Virginia’s husband Bill passed in 1990, and she never remarried.
After returning to the US and retiring from Government service, Virginia and Bill opened their first Minuteman Press in McLean, Virginia in 1976, later opening two more locations. They eventually also opened a DocuSource store circa 1980. As a result, Virginia was heavily involved and became well known in McLean as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, its predecessor The Business and Professional Association, winning many citizen awards, and was the Grand Marshall of the McLean parade one year.
Virginia was a true child of God and an active member of the PAX Community Catholic Mass, and the McLean Bible Study. She was with the Community Bible Study (CBS) for more than 20 years. In this, she was a Core Group Leader and then a Senior Leader who oversaw the other leaders. She reached out to everyone in her group every week and was a source of wisdom and was much beloved.
