Mr. Van Chau Ngo, 86, Annandale, Virginia, died April 11, 2025. He was born to the late Mr. Tai Ngo and Mrs. Chu Thi Chung on Dec. 23, 1938 in Canton, China. He married Mrs. Van Dinh Chung in 1960 in Vietnam. They lived in Vietnam for 21 years and in the United States for 44 years and were happily married for over 50 years. Mr. Ngo was survived by his 6 children (5 sons and 1 daughter) and 6 children in law: Dan Ngo & Hong Trang, Quoc Ngo & Phuong Tran, Minh Ngo and Trang Nguyen, Patricia Woodworth & David Lohr, Thanh Ngo & Sara Truong, Jonathan Ngo & Anothoune Phimmasone. He is survived by 11 grandchildren: Jason Ngo, Jeffrey Ngo, Anthony Ngo, Janlynn Ngo, Alexis Ngo, Matthew Woodworth, Eilleen Ngo-Tran, Carlynda Ngo, Albert Ngo, Neyla Ngo, and Joshua Ngo. His eldest daughter, Thi Bach Tuyet Ngo, passed away in 1979.
Mr. Ngo was a successful business man in Vietnam. He owned farmland and a grain distribution business and later transitioned into wholesale distribution in Malaysia. He built a large 3-story residence for his family and relatives that is now a government building in Camau, Vietnam. He brought his family to America after enduring several years of hardship after the Vietnam War to Tiffin, Ohio on January 23, 1981. The family moved to California in July 1981 and owned several business ventures throughout the years (jewelry, bakery and restaurants). He brought the family to Virginia in 1996 and helped found the Lincoln House Restaurant in Washington DC. Mr. Ngo was a respected and honored member of the Teo Chew Community and was involved in the Teo Chew Association for over 44 years.
Mr. Ngo was a strong, hardworking, honorable, kind and caring individual that will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. He came to the United States with his wife and 6 kids to provide freedom and limitless opportunity for his family. He worked and sacrificed everything for his family’s wellbeing and was a loving and dutiful son and the best husband, father and grandfather imaginable. He was loved and cherished by many and his memory and legacy will live on through his family and loved ones for eternity.
A funeral service for Van will be held Sunday, April 20, 2025 and Monday, April 21, 2025 at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.
