Ruth Goldstein Rooney

Passed away on February 12, 2016. Beloved wife of Richard Rooney. Ruth was born in Monroe, Connecticut, moved to the Washington area to work for the Federal Government and stayed for the rest of her life. She retired in 1972 and went to volunteer for charity organizations such as HADASSAH and was president and correspondent of the Forty and Eight La Femmes.

She was an avid gardener, who had a flair for home design and landscaping, a lover of dogs, animals and birds. She was an avid reader. She and Richard shared a love of boating, gardening and family.

In addition to Richard, Ruth is survived by her daughter Carol Oberlander of Mystic, Conn., granddaughter, Elisabeth Anne Floriano, and sister, Dorothy Goldbaum of St. Joseph, Michigan.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 18 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 W Broad St., Falls Church, VA. Graveside service will be held at 11am on Friday, February 19 at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA.
