Bob was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on September 24, 1938, to Edward Arthur Rose, Sr. and Margaret Theresa Keon Rose and enjoyed a full life, supporting the environment in many ways. Bob attended Falls Church High School and the University of Virginia (Class of 1960) and continued his education with graduate work at George Washington University. Bob spent more than 33 years at the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC. He pursued a variety of public volunteer and community services over the years concerning the environment and animal welfare. He notably enjoyed his many years volunteering at the Mote Aquarium in Sarasota. Bob also participated in numerous community board functions. In April 2021 Bob received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award for his more than 10,000 hours of volunteer service through 2020. He has also established a Sustainable Environmental Grant Program for the benefit of future generations.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Margaret and his son, Robert Charles Rose, Jr. He is survived by his daughter Debra Lynn Rose, brother Edward Arthur Rose, Jr., sister in-law Hilda Rose and niece and nephew, Margaret Rose, and Edward Arthur Rose, III. Bob is also survived by his dear friend of many years, Virginia Everett.
A graveside service is scheduled at the National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Virginia at 2:00pm on March 5, 2024.
