Robert Joseph Lucas, of Falls Church, VA, a devout Catholic and the Godfather of his family passed away on April 17, 2024 at the age of 92. Bob was born in Pittston, PA to William Lucas and Helen Best. Bob was the eldest of four children (Shirley Antal, Janet Antal and the late Ellen Cinquegrani.) He was deeply rooted in his Irish and Lithuanian heritage from an early age. In the U.S. Army he fought in the Korean war. He then worked at the Central Intelligence Agency for 35 years in Langley, VA. After his retirement from the CIA, he worked another 20 years as a government contractor with General Dynamics in McLean, VA. Every Friday night he loved to go “Down to the Corner” for a beer with his family. He was hilarious, and would make us all laugh with his famous one liners: “Does a bear sh*t in the woods,” “Does a cat have an ass,” and his mantra to all his children and grandchildren, “Drive Careful.” He loved to fish in Deale, MD, swim (he jumped off the Susquehanna Bridge in Pittston for fun). He loved polka music (Jimmy Sturgis) and dancing with his wife Palma to Engelbert Humperdinck. He loved playing the lottery, and every birthday wish was to win big for his family. He loved watching Jeopardy and Everybody Loves Raymond. He loved going to the American Legion and VFW where he was a member in Virginia and Pennsylvania. He used to drop money and tell his grandkids “Hey you dropped something.” Bob was a devoted husband to our beautiful mother, Palma Lucas (Lieback) and a caring, loving father to son Billy Lucas and daughters Pamie Earley and Kelly Berry. He was a grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, with baby Tony on the way. He cherished his family literally above all else. We take comfort in knowing that he has been called home to be with his late wife Palma, which is all he ever wanted. Always saying “I can’t wait to be with your beautiful mother.” May the soul of Robert Lucas, through the mercy of God, rest in peace and may perpetual light always shine upon him. There are no words to measure how much we love and miss you. Minga xo
