Maynard was born in Falls Church, Va., and was raised and educated there. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Missouri. After marrying he and Nancy settled in Falls Church. In 2013 he moved to Braddock Glen Assisted Living in Fairfax he considered his caregivers family.
He enjoyed spending time with his fellow veterans, at the American Legion Post 130 and the VFW in Falls Church. Maynard was a proud member of the U.S.S. Missouri Association, and attended their annual convention for over 20 years. He spent countless hours working and sculpting in his yard. His love for "the loose goose" his Oldsmobile Cutlass which he drove annually in the Falls Church Memorial Day Parade.
Maynard is survived by 4 loving children, Wayne, Maynard Jr., Marian, and Michelle; 7 Grandchildren Melissa, Kenneth Jr., James, Ginny, Katherine, Christina, and Maria; also 5 Great Grandchildren Alex, Robbie, Marques, James and Tyson Michael Lee.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 24 at 11a.m. at the National Funeral Home,7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, Va. 22042. Visiting hours will begin at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow services at National Memorial Park.
