On Monday, May 27, 2013, Martha a native Washingtonian left us to be with her heavenly family at the age of 89. She lived in the same north Arlington neighborhood in a house built by her father for 64 years. Martha spent 35+ years in various positions including Budget Analyst for the Department of the Navy. In that capacity she traveled and attended many ship commissionings. The Navy sent Martha through training and classes at then all male Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI) to increase her engineering knowledge. Martha was an active volunteer. She was on the Women's Committee for National Symphony Orchestra and particularly enjoyed working on the NSO Decorators Showhouse. She enjoyed attending the symphonies, ballets and plays at the Kennedy Center and other venues in the area. She attended, sang in the choir and volunteered at Calvary Baptist Church in Washington DC and later National Presbyterian also located in DC. Martha belonged to Shillelaghs Travel Club and traveled extensively. She was particularly fond of Holden Beach, NC.
Martha was predeceased by her parents James and Bessie Peck. She is survived by a host of cousins and life-long friends.
